나는 현재 시대 속 흩어져만 가는 인간의 불완전한 감정과 감각을 붙잡은 채 현실과 미디어의 세계를 넘나들어 사이의 균열 속
새로운 사적인 공간의 문을 연다.
오늘날 디지털 네트워크의 비약적인 발전으로 현실과 미디어 매체를 확실히 구분 짓기 모호하고, 압도적으로 밀려들어오는 데이터들에 스스로 주체성을 가지고 현실을 마주하기 힘든 상황이 도래하였다. 인공지능, 메타버스, 휴머노이드 등의 기술이 성행하고 이것이 중심이 되어 극도의 효율성을 추구하는 사회 속에서 인간은 디지털 기술의 학습과 확장에 부가적으로 참여하는 형식의 세계가 발달되었으며 나아가 새로운 데이터들이 급속도로 빠르게 생성되어 폭주하는 현실 속에서 인간 본연의 감정과 감각이 흩어져만 간다.
나의 작업은 이에 저항하고자 바깥으로 밀려나는 인간 본연의 감정과 감각을 중심 삼아 미디어의 형태를 일그러뜨리고, 순수한 도구로서 표현되는 사적인 공간을 작업으로서 펼쳐나간다. 이것은 현실 속에서 느꼈던 기민하고 예민한 불완전한 감정들이 고정되지 않은 채 떠돌아다니는 미디어의 이미지, 텍스트와 합쳐져 변형을 일으킴으로써 새로운 형상을 띠는 사적인 공간으로, 이 공간의 흐름은 일상 속 우리가 직접적으로 맞닿을 수 있는 인물, 시선, 형체 등에 커다란 균열을 내어 변형을 일으키다 훨씬 더 큰 차원을 불러일으킴으로써 새로운 형체들이 튀어나오는 고차원의 하이퍼 스페이스 세계를 여는 공간성을 띤다. 이 영역에서는 있는 그대로의 감정과 감각의 표출이 이미지의 변형을 일으키고 직접 새로운 형상을 만들어 재구성과 재창조 과정을 이뤄 낸 곳이다. 이곳의 전체적인 화면은 불완전한 감정을 으스러뜨리고 변환시키고자 하는 욕구가 내포되어 있으며, 새로운 서사를 부여한다.
나의 작업은 이 공간이 실존한다는 것을 증명하는 증거물로서 제출되는 것이다.
Holding onto the scattering, imperfect emotions and senses of humanity in the modern era, I cross between reality and the media world to open the door to a new, private space within the cracks in between.
Today, the rapid advance of digital networks has blurred the line between reality and media. Inundated by an overwhelming flood of data, it is difficult to face reality with individual autonomy. In a society pursuing extreme efficiency driven by technologies like Artificial Intelligence, the metaverse, and humanoids, humans merely participate as an extra part in the expansion of digital technology. Consequently, in this reality where new data explodes, inherent human emotions and senses are continuously
scattering away.
In resistance to this, my work centers on these marginalized, raw human emotions and senses, distorting the forms of media to unfold a private space that acts as a pure tool. This private space takes on a new shape as the sharp, fragile, and imperfect emotions felt in reality merge and transform with drifting media images and texts. The flow of this space causes large cracks and distortions in the people, gazes, and forms we directly encounter in daily life; it then brings forth a much larger dimension, creating a spatiality that opens a high-dimensional Hyper-Space where new forms leap forward.
Within this realm, the raw expression of emotions and senses distorts images, directly forging new shapes to achieve a process of reconstruction and reinvention. The overall screen of this space inherently contains a desire to crush and transform imperfect emotions, giving them a new narrative.
My work is submitted as the evidence proving that this space exists.
